I had a lovely two-night stay in a room for ten people. It was easy to reach everything in the city centre on foot, usually in 10-20 minutes. Both the room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and there was a small kitchen and shared room where we could chat. The receptionist was kind and friendly, and tried to help right away whenever we had an issue. It was perfect for a short stay, and I’d come back.

We spent four nights in an apartment that felt more like a nice hotel room. There wasn’t a hostel or hostel reception that I could see. The host sent clear self check-in and check-out instructions and replied quickly whenever we had questions. There was a minibar, stove, and electric kettle. The building was old, but everything worked. The elevator was a little scary, though I was glad it was there. It stops at the half floors, so you still have to go up or down half a flight. WiFi was strong, and there was a smoking balcony separate from the room. I’d stay here again and recommend it highly.

For the price, it’s a cheap place near the tourist areas, and my brief interaction with the person running it was pleasant. It has plenty of flaws, though, and will suit some people better than others. There was some mold in the refrigerator and general wear throughout. The bed wasn’t great, the window barely opened, and the shower was tiny, with an old curtain half off its hooks. There was no housekeeping service, so no fresh towels or new toilet paper. The elevator doesn’t take you all the way to your floor. You have to climb or descend a flight of stairs to reach it, whichever floor you’re on. Still, if you want a basic stay with easy access to the city at a low price, it could work.

The beds were more comfortable than I expected, and most attractions are within walking distance. But for a cheap stay, this offered little real value. The building is very shoddy and poorly equipped, the WiFi is bad, and there are no free accommodations offered. Reception is open only from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday through Saturday, which could be a real problem if your travel plans change or you’re delayed. I had problems with other hostel guests and nobody to report them to. The showers have badly hung curtains, and most bathrooms smelled of sewage. The kitchen is just a dining bench, a boiler, and almost no utensils. I found two cups and one knife. The lockers are flimsy plywood boxes with a hole for a chain, and feel easy to open.

Better than I expected for a youth hostel. It was clean, had a nice atmosphere, and was near the city centre.
