Folimanka Park nearby made it easy to get away from the tourist crowds, and there’s also a tram stop close by. The hotel felt warm and welcoming as soon as we walked in, which was especially nice in the cold weather. We had a relaxing three days, and everything else was pleasant. The rooms were well organised, though the beds were hard. I’d asked for a double bed more than two months ahead, but we got two singles pushed together. That’s uncomfortable when you’re sharing with someone of the opposite sex.

I spent a week here and it started to feel like home. The staff at reception were great, housekeeping did a great job, and the restaurant service was good too. Breakfast was a highlight, and there’s a little market across the street. I also tried the onsite Thia massage place, which was good and inexpensive. The light rail stop is right outside, and the trains are cheap and easy to use. The room was just right, although the mattress was a bit firm. Luckily there was a soft comforter available, and sleeping on top of it worked well.

We came in December with a small child and stayed for a few days. There was warm water once in the morning, but after coming back from the Christmas market, we never had any again in the evening. How can a four-star hotel have no warm water? The tram stop is right nearby, which is handy, but the poor insulation means the tram woke us up early. Half a star from me.

The room wasn’t cleaned during our stay, and the towels were never changed. It was dirty to begin with, the toilet flush buttons didn’t work properly and no one fixed them. There was no air conditioner remote, no slippers, and the TV wasn’t available unless we specifically asked reception for it. Breakfast was far below an acceptable standard. The biggest problem was the complete lack of hot water throughout our stay. We raised it with reception several times and were told it would be back in 20 minutes, or within an hour at most. It wasn’t there the next morning, that evening, or the morning after. The information from staff was clearly false. We were also told a manager would come the next morning, then that they wouldn’t be there until the day after. Neither happened, and there was never a responsible manager available. Both the conditions and the way our complaints were handled were unacceptable. I can’t recommend this hotel, and we definitely won’t return.
