Hotel Zlatá Váha

My friend and I had a really pleasant stay. The room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast had a great range of choices. Shops and places to eat are close by, with excellent public transport connections. There are trams passing often, even at night, so some people might find it a bit noisy. It didn't take away from our stay.

We ended up moving elsewhere, even though the new accommodation cost more than twice as much. We kept this room only because the booking was non-refundable, which we understand and accept. I can't recommend this hotel. It left us without a feeling of hospitality, professionalism, or basic reassurance as guests. The problem started at check-in during our stay over Christmas 2025. When we asked if there was any flexibility with payment, a receptionist shouted at us. The response was offensive and unprofessional, and other guests were standing nearby and saw it. We also asked for an emergency code for the main street entrance, in case our access cards got lost or stopped working. The request was refused without a clear reason, which left us confused and worried. There isn't 24-hour reception, and knowing nobody would be available late at night made us feel unsafe. We had to rely on the cards with no backup access option from the hotel. When we emailed our concerns, the hotel defended the receptionist instead of addressing what happened constructively. That response was what finally pushed us to relocate.

A decent budget hotel for tourists, just a few minutes on foot from Prague's historic centre. My fourth-floor room was basic in its decor but clean, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast was okay, though the atmosphere was a little noisy.

The room was simple but a good size, and mine even came with a nice balcony. I also really appreciated the roomy shower. Staff were friendly, and check-in and check-out were easy either face to face or at the self-service terminal. It's a short, convenient walk to both the main train station and the city centre. I'd gladly stay again.
