The area is great for biking, and we hired electric bikes that took us 100 km in one day. It’s also a great base for exploring places around Lipno dam. Our room was nice, the beds were very comfortable, and breakfast had everything you could want.

The owners went well beyond what we expected. They were always keen to suggest things to do nearby, and the staff were friendly. The place itself was clean and spacious, with a peaceful, pleasant feel. We had an incredible dinner from the menu on our last day, and it didn’t disappoint. The breakfasts were great too. The food is high quality, mostly organic and homemade, and the wine was so good we brought some home. My wife and I spent a wonderful long weekend here, surrounded by trees, hills, fields, and meadows in unspoilt countryside. We hired electric bikes on site, which is a must. We tried 3 amazing trails recommended on the notices in the entrance hall. There was also great swimming in a nearby river and in lakes in Austria, which were incredibly clean for that time of year. We can definitely recommend it and hope to visit again soon.

We liked our stay so much that we added another day. The room was clean and in good order, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast spread was extensive. The restaurant food was tasty too, and the location sits amid beautiful scenery.

The dinners were excellent, and so were the buffet breakfasts. They also let us make sandwiches to take along for lunch. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. The one thing I’d have liked is a sunny outdoor seating spot for a drink at the end of the day. At present, the only seating is by the main entrance, which is shaded. The Dobik Bistro might offer another option when it’s open, but it was closed during our early September stay. This pension sits in a very quiet part of Sumava, close to the Austrian border. Our room was a good size, well furnished, and clean and in good condition, with lovely towels and a bathroom with all the mod cons. We didn’t have a balcony, so upgrading could be worthwhile if you want to sit outside and watch the sunset after a walk. The pension has selected 6 walks through the pristine countryside, each marked with a different colour to guide you. They’re beautiful routes over meadows, hills, and through forests, all more than 10km long. Some go into Austria, where it gets more populated near the border. After each walk, it was easy to drive to Lipno lake for a swim.
