Penzion Olda

The view of the forests is lovely, and I especially enjoy sitting under the pergola for a snack or breakfast. There’s also a clean-water pool outside with sun loungers, plus a self-service bar with very good beer and lemonades. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook for yourself. The place is always clean, and everything is ready when I arrive. The staff are very friendly at check-in, and nobody bothers or restricts you during your stay. I’ve spent several seasons in a row at the Olda guesthouse, and I have nothing but praise for it. I can fully recommend it and would love to return. I hope I can enjoy the comfort of Hrubá Skála and another pleasant stay there this year.

The area around the guesthouse is full of lovely forests, sandstone rocks, and scenic views. It’s close to the woods, about a 15-minute walk to Hrubá Skála Castle, and Wallenstein Castle and the Trosky ruins are nearby too. You can get around on foot or by bike, making it a good fit for families with children or a weekend for two. We stayed from Friday to Monday over Easter and found the place very homely and pleasant. The owners were polite and friendly, and we may have been among the first guests of the season. Booking was easy and communication was perfect. Our room was small but cozy, clean, and nicely prepared, with a toilet and bathroom. There’s also a shared kitchen, a common room with TV and table football, outdoor seating with a grill, a pool, and ping pong. 😊

Looking for a quiet holiday stay? I really can’t recommend this guesthouse. The owner seems happy to host noisy drunks who shout late into the night, or even the early morning. Yesterday (12/9), Czech Police came here because of a nighttime disturbance. This place is for the white trash category. Jan Konig Jr.

Never again. The pool water is cloudy and dirty, and there isn’t enough outdoor seating for even half the guests. The rooms have no refrigerators, while the shared fridge doesn’t have enough capacity. The TV is in the common room, which can only fit visitors from one or two rooms.
