Hostel Marabou Prague

I stayed here for a long time and had some really bad experiences. The worst was having my phone stolen from the shared kitchen. The manager just said the cameras weren't working and left it at that, without making any effort to help. I can’t recommend this place.

There’s plenty to do inside the hostel, especially downstairs, where the basement has a large two-room area with a pool table and foosball. A few old computers are there too, and they work fine despite being outdated. The common rooms have roomy layouts, comfortable couches, and a well-equipped kitchen, so staying in for the night is fun. The whole hostel, including the bedding, is cleaned daily. The bar stays open 24 hours and has cheap pints, a broad selection of alcohol, and Czech and Belgian beers. Service is great, and the people are friendly and relaxed. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the center. Good bars, restaurants, StormClub, and a supermarket are nearby, all within the immediate area. The closest ATM is about a five-minute walk, and taxis are easy enough to flag down. My longest wait was around seven minutes. Most of what you need is within about 200 meters.

I’d never stayed in a hostel before and wasn’t expecting much, but I had a great time. There were 13 of us sharing a room for a stag weekend, and we were probably loud at times, sorry if we caused any trouble. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and reception was staffed around the clock. They sorted out taxis for us several times. The atmosphere was very cool, and the kitchen was clean and handy for making a pizza after a night out. Thanks for a great stay.

During my 2021 stay, I was overcharged, staff refused to give me a receipt, and I got back only part of my deposit more than a month after chasing them. The common areas weren’t cleaned while I was there, and the bathroom had mold and hair. The kitchen had very little equipment, and the stove was too weak to cook soup in 30 minutes. They changed the keys one day without telling anyone. At 2 a.m., instead of going to bed as planned, I had to phone the owner and other people to sort it out. I’ve seen several negative reviews that the hostel claims are from people who never stayed there. The things described in those reviews happened to me, and I doubt dozens of people would post false complaints. I’m more inclined to suspect the positive reviews.
