Hotel Residence Tabor

The beds were a little hard, and the sheets weren’t changed during my five nights. Towels and the bin were taken care of daily, though the towels felt rough. There’s a fridge, microwave, kettle, and cups in the room. Breakfast at Golden City, across the road, ran from 7:30-10:30am. It was okay, with cereals, bread, jams, cakes, yoghurt, coffee, cheeses, and meat. As vegetarians, we had limited choices, but managed. Hotel Residence Tabor is across from Holden Golden City, where you check in. It’s clean and standard, a bit like a UK Travelodge. I’d have felt safer staying at Golden City, where someone is on staff around the clock. For five nights, the price made this a good stay. Prague was lovely at Christmas, but wrap up warm, it was freezing. The tram stop is across the road, with easy rides to the centre and main attractions. I emailed the hotel to ask about the easiest airport route, and they sent clear instructions that were very easy to follow.

The front desk team were the highlight, really friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little small but well laid out, and everything I paid for was there. It’s not quite central, though public transport serves it very well. Breakfast was just okay, but for the money, it’s good value.

I’ve stayed here twice and will definitely come back. It’s a lovely place for the price, with a slightly odd, quirky feel in some ways. If nothing else, I’d return for the breakfast music.

The breakfast area often felt crowded because it was too small for the number of guests, though the food itself was simple with enough variety to get the day started. My room was spacious, and I appreciated the daily towel changes. The dormer window let in too much morning light, and some street noise came through, though it wasn’t too bad. I stayed five nights and was satisfied overall. The location is excellent, directly opposite a tram stop, with just two stops to the main train station and three to the city centre. It was quick and convenient to get around, and the hotel was very good value. I’d recommend it for a short stay.
