There’s a lot of potential here, but it hasn't been used yet. We booked on arrival day, so we waited to see what the room would actually be like. The booking was handled quickly, and they accommodated our family of four, which I appreciated. We had a room with four beds, a wardrobe, and a sink with cold water. Hot water is available in the shared washrooms, which were in very good condition. Outside, there's a huge garden with plenty of room for kids to play. We had two children with us. There's also a pub garden in front of the building, but during our one-day stay it seemed to be closed. There were no signs or ads to explain whether it was open. Food isn't offered here unless you're part of a larger group, and I missed having a regular catering option. As it is now, I'd say it works best for one or two nights while visiting the nearby wine cellars, pools, and similar places. A bit of investment, a food service, or bike rentals for exploring the vineyards and nearby towns like Mikulov and Lednice could bring in more guests, even with the location as it is.

If you only need somewhere to sleep and leave again, this place is just about adequate, preferably on a hot summer day. We were there at the end of September, when it was 15°C during the day and colder in the evening. It felt about as cold inside as outside. The walls are like paper, and though the lady offered us stones for a fee to warm up, going to the toilet or stepping out of the shower in that temperature was miserable. The toilets are the first thing you notice when you enter. Their unpleasant smell travels throughout the building. The hygiene seems not to have been checked in about 25 years. Hot water was unreliable too. Sometimes it simply didn't run; another time, the mini boiler ran out after enough for about four people, despite the place having capacity for 44. Half board was another problem. We were sitting at the table dressed because it was so cold, and didn't even feel like lifting a spoon. Instead of the planned meal, something instant with grilled meat showed up. The lady said she could cook whatever we agreed on, so we settled on a kind of breakfast, but what arrived was completely different. Better to cancel the half board.

The rooms and beds were clean, and the retro-style hostel seemed about right for the price. But the shared toilets were awful. They smelled so bad that the stink spread through the whole building, even through closed room doors. I couldn't bring myself to go into the bathroom. I had no other choice yesterday, so I left the deposit and turned around at the door on the floor.

The owner and staff were friendly and very helpful, and the food was excellent. We only stayed one night, but it was great, with nice rooms at a reasonable price. The spacious bathroom was a real plus. I'd happily return for a longer visit.
