The views were amazing, the wine was excellent, and the host was very nice.

A good, country-style home.

Rohatec itself was enjoyable, but the accommodation let us down. The host stopped replying to our emails two weeks before we arrived, and once we got there we had no idea where to go or what to do. She gave me a few quick instructions over the phone, then that was it. At first the place looked very nice, but it wasn't clean on closer inspection. There was blood on the sheets, plus tissues and biscuit wrappers behind the bed, and the bathroom wasn't clean either. Email was our only way to communicate, and we'd agreed to pay cash at the property. The host never showed up at either the start or the end of our stay and didn't let us know.

The location worked well for trips around the area, with a train, shop and refreshments nearby. We stayed for five or seven nights. This two-storey apartment has a kitchen and cellar downstairs, and two rooms with five beds upstairs, but it felt cramped for a longer stay with five people. There was nowhere to put our things, and the pile of duvets took up nearly the whole wardrobe. The beds were uncomfortable, sagged and creaked whenever anyone moved. You could hear everything through the thin wall between the rooms, and the room door only shut if you forced it. Cleaning was neglected: there were cobwebs and dust, the fridge needed attention, and the kitchen dishes had to be washed before we could use them. Extension cords were all over the place. The fridge was plugged into two cords connected together, and the coffee maker and kettle also ran on extensions. It seemed like the place hadn't been inspected in a long time. We could use only the cellar with the seating area; the wine cellar was locked, and wine was sold on request. A family with children stayed in the loft above the apartment and used the outdoor seating area, so we couldn't. There was nowhere to dry laundry until the owner came on Wednesday with a clothes dryer, when we also found out there was a washing machine. We had nowhere to put the trash either: both bins were full, so we had to leave ours beside them. I wouldn't recommend staying longer than two nights.
