Pension Protěž

The children were away for ski training and came back in under 24 hours. Their accommodation wasn't in the main building, but somewhere that felt like a horror story. It was filthy and moldy, with cobwebs and even bugs in the room. The conditions could hardly have been worse.

The beds are cleanly made, but they feel as old as when Šemík was a foal 😊. There's mold in the bathroom, which isn't surprising since the pension is old and no one looks after it. Still, we've been coming for six years because it's so close to the ski lift, and the spring holidays here are absolutely divine, especially for families with children. I'd give the pension and its home-cooked Czech food three stars, but the location within easy reach of the lifts and slope is worth five, for both adults and kids.

The ski lift is only 50 meters away, and after skiing you can ski right up to the door. The style feels vintage, like communist-era holiday homes, but the food is delicious, the beer is excellent and cheap, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

I wouldn't recommend it. The duvets are outdated and aren't even covered between guests.
