Hotýlek Mlýn Maděrovka

The care put into this place really shows. We found it peaceful, with cozy rooms, delicious food and very kind service. A great spot for unwinding in beautiful natural surroundings. We’d happily return and definitely recommend it.

The best part was how quiet it felt out in nature, while still being close to Bechyně and other South Bohemian destinations. We had a wonderful weekend at the Maděrovka mill. The owner was always helpful, suggesting trips, arranging dinners and setting breakfast for the time we agreed on. He even booked a massage for me when I asked. Our room was spacious and clean, and there’s a large plot around the accommodation. Breakfast was great too, with ham, salami, cheese, eggs, four kinds of fresh pastries, cereal, jam, honey, homemade gingerbread, tea, coffee and homemade lemonade.

The surroundings are beautiful, and the grounds are spacious and pleasant. Inside, though, the towels were unattractive, there was dust under the beds and dirt in the shower, and the cobwebs and many spiders everywhere bothered me a lot. I can’t imagine staying here with children. I spent three nights at Maděrovka in the middle of this year’s holidays. I’d expected simple country-style rooms, but the accommodation quality didn’t justify the price. There were only three of us staying there while the competitor next door was full. After three nights, I moved there once a room opened up. The owner takes payment in advance. I guess he knows why. It was a pretty unpleasant experience.

We were out cycling as a group of eight on May 18th, and the place looked nice, but there was nobody around. The only beer available was bottled Platan 11. The waiter brought us eight bottles that were three weeks past their date, then charged CZK 50 for each with a straight face. We understood why it was empty and left soon after.
