Breakfast was good and varied from day to day, and staff could manage a decent amount of German and English. The accommodation itself is basic but good value, costing about a third of what you would pay on the German side. It’s also close to the Oberwiesenthal ski resort. The rooms are cozy, with a private toilet and shower, and there’s a window but no TV. For people who just need a place to sleep while skiing or enjoying other sports, in summer or winter, the pension is suitable. The small water heater is a drawback, though, since you have to wait after one person showers before the next can go. Breakfast is ordinary with a limited selection, but manageable. The restaurant menu is classic, although the prices seem set for German visitors, with a hefty surcharge for being up in the mountains above the valley. I found the waitress’s manner and smell unpleasant, and felt she was quick to overcharge customers. She even made it easy to work out the business’s revenue. That’s why I’m giving it only two stars.
