Pension Katty

Pension Ewa’s beautiful setting in a valley beside a stream is one thing, but we didn’t feel welcome there. Mrs. Ewa’s behavior and remarks left us uncomfortable, as if we were being watched and judged. She often scolded guests, made passive-aggressive comments without saying who they were for, sighed when someone made a second coffee, kept count of how many drinks we’d prepared, and criticized where a child had put their bottle. It gave us the impression that she found guests bothersome and simply didn’t like people. The one shared area where families could sit together, spend time, or play games wasn’t always available, which surprised us. When we tried to give feedback, we got a rude response and were called a “hopeless group.” Mrs. Ewa also said she had “helped us so much” by recommending Yellow Point for the children’s ski lessons. The lessons turned out to be very poor quality, and the school was run by her friends or family. We wouldn’t recommend Yellow Point. It felt like favoritism rather than a sincere recommendation. The word “hospital” comes from the Latin hospitalis, meaning “hospitable” or “related to guests,” from hospes, which could mean either “guest” or “host.” Unfortunately, Mrs. Ewa didn’t show us hospitality. Despite the lovely location, this isn’t a guesthouse we’d return to with an open heart. There was little warmth, and the host made it difficult to feel welcome.
