Roeland V.
We came on a local recommendation, and the park-facing side of the hotel was a real plus, even though the building sits beneath a concrete residential area that I didn't find very appealing. The place itself looks well kept, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our attic rooms had odd shapes and plain, functional interiors. They were clean, as was the bathroom, though there were hardly any amenities. A little work on the rooms would make this a five-star stay for me. Even as it is, the value for money is very good. We also ate at the restaurant downstairs. It has the feel of a typical Czech place, with old signs, pictures and other objects giving the interior some character. The food choices were just right, and the dishes looked and tasted good, which was a pleasant surprise at those prices. Breakfast was simple but good, with eggs cooked fresh to order. The Pilsner and local beer were served perfectly. If you're in Strakonice and need somewhere to stay and eat, I'd recommend it.
