Hotel Amalka

Breakfast was poor, with stale bread, wet dishes and stained cutlery, and the bathroom was well below a basic cleaning standard. There was hair in the sink, an old shower with rust on the door handle and a strange, suspicious green colour on the shower head. The carpet was really old, the bedside table was stained, the suitcase stand was torn, and parts of the wall were chipped. There was no shelf beneath the mirror over the sink, just the old supports where one had been. Uncomfortable. A very bad experience.

The scenery around here is breathtaking and really photogenic. For the price, the place is great: breakfast, a bed and bathroom, plus food that was actually excellent and worth waiting for. The bed felt a bit stiff to me, but I still slept fine.

I came by rental car as a foreign tourist and booked mainly because the price was cheap and breakfast was included. The place surprised me, with lots of people there on vacation and a cozy feel. There’s a restaurant on the ground floor, plus a tennis court and even a sauna. My room was in good shape and much bigger than I expected for the price. The bed looked a bit temporary, almost like camping gear, but it was still comfortable. Rooms and the gate use card keys after 8 PM. I don’t know whether there’s a lift. I’d recommend it to tourists with a car.

Really deserves 5 out of 5. Clean and comfortable, in a great location, with kind service and a nice restaurant serving good food.
