Hotel Elegance

Every night on the fourth floor, we had to put up with thumping club music from the restaurant downstairs until 3am. The front desk staff were rude from the moment we arrived, and everyone we dealt with in the gaming room on the second floor was the same. I was staying at Hotel Elegance while touring Europe with a band, and this was easily the worst “four star” hotel of our 30-day tour. I couldn’t wait to leave.

I used to stay only at this hotel whenever I came to Sumperk, but I feel it has gone downhill a lot. Breakfast was another problem. At 8.00 in the morning, there was absolutely nothing on the plates. I called over the mustached gentleman who was wandering around, but we’d simply been forgotten where breakfast was served. We then waited 30 minutes for scrambled eggs. Meanwhile, a local or employee who seemed to know the place came out of the kitchen with a generously filled plate and sat down to eat quietly behind us. That’s when we realized that “breakfast included” apparently means going into the kitchen and serving yourself as if you were at home. Breakfast included. What a joke!

The bed worked for me, but it’s really hard, so it won’t suit everyone. The room was okay. The bathroom’s supposedly “silent” fan sounds like a jet engine. What hurt the score most was the breakfast “buffe”: there were only empty plates when I arrived at the advertised start time. I got there earlier on day two, and it was even worse.

The sides could use more imagination, but the grilled options were the best part.
