The garden pool was a welcome break after a long drive, and there’s room in the yard to sunbathe. We only booked one night, which was a shame. Our friendly host at Penzion Kalina speaks German and laid out a generous breakfast with lots of fresh fruit. He also offered scrambled eggs and sausages on request. There was a small minibar with a few beers in the room, plus another fridge with reasonably priced beer and wine. The room was good, though the curtains let in more light than I’d like, especially during the heavy thunderstorm that night. It’s a little too far to walk to the city center, but there’s a good restaurant within walking distance. A nice base for exploring the region, and we’ll stay here again next time we’re nearby.

The garden is well kept, and you can park there. A heated, covered saltwater pool is a real bonus. The hosts are helpful too: they’ll make breakfast the way you like it, give you a lift, and suggest things to see. It works well for families or groups of bikers, cyclists, and others like them.
