Hotel Jaškovská Krčma

We'd heard recommendations and gave it a try, but won't be returning. Salt seemed to be everywhere, from the garlic soup through to the main dish. The fried cheese, kids' chicken, water, and beer were fine, but almost everything else was far too salty. It's a shame because the food looked good and the portions were a decent size.

The rooms are a little dated, but the suites have an unusual layout these days: a separate little lounge, WC, and shower, so you can settle in like it's home. The design and layout are excellent, and most of the fittings feel high quality. A few small improvements would help, though. Sit out on the balcony, take in the lake view, and relax. Czechia is great value for visitors from the UK. October weather here can swing from 30 to 20 to 10 degrees C in three days. The pub's welcome, though, stayed warm throughout. It's a real local place, and the staff do their best, so don't expect too much; relax and enjoy the surroundings, food, wine, beer, and lovely lake view. Before the lake was built for hydro and water supply, this was the heart of an old village near a bridge over a stream. Even where we live in Devon, there aren't many places that can claim such a long history of serving beer.

We spent over a week here during our holiday, from September 17th to September 25th, and we'll definitely return next year. Our room was clean and cozy, with a balcony overlooking the lake. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the food was fantastic. I especially recommend the "Tomahawk". When I got sick, they brought hot tea to our room and washed and ironed our laundry. The manager did everything he could to meet our needs, even getting up early to make breakfast on our last day and driving us to the train station. Thank you so much! DEKUJEME!

A lovely setting, with polite, helpful waiters and big enough portions. Dinner prices are a bit higher than at a good restaurant, but I'd still recommend the place.
