I usually only book places with more than 90% reviews, but we just needed somewhere to sleep for one night and figured we’d manage for that price. I ended up being satisfied and would gladly return. I think some of the negative reviews are harsher than they need to be.

For cyclists staying a night, it worked well, though a longer holiday without meals would be harder. The four-person room was nicely furnished, but the kitchenette cupboard was tiny, with the sink stretching across it. The kettle sat on the draining area, and its cable was almost in the water, which didn’t feel safe. The cutlery was dusty in a plastic bowl. Feather duvets may be tough for allergy sufferers :-), though otherwise everything was manageable. The spacious bathroom had nowhere to put things for four people, with lots of garbage there and no shelf or toothbrush holder. We ended up keeping toiletries and toothbrushes in bags on the floor, which was a shame.

We’ve been coming for maybe 10 years and it’s always great. The rooms are smaller and have a kettle; the apartment has a kitchenette and basic utensils. Parking in the yard costs extra. Bike storage could use some adjustment, as there isn’t enough room for the number of guests, so late arrivals leave bikes wherever they can. One tent could also use an extended roof. Overall, good connectivity.

The apartment upstairs had a French window looking over the roofs, which I found romantic. The little ones loved sleeping in their own room under a vault, with its small window, and called it their little house. After reading the reviews, I worried a bit and brought blankets and pillows for our allergy sufferers, but I don’t think that was needed. The equipment looks like the 90s, as others have said, but there was no old dirt anywhere. The shower was clean, with a curtain, and the toilet was okay. The guesthouse is spacious, and it seems to be run by one woman with occasional help from a man. For that cheap price, it’s a good choice. Enjoy Třeboň! I recommend crossing the main road at a right angle and going through the old villa area to reach the parks, then taking a detour to the main square. By bike, it’s easy to get everywhere.
