Hotel U Kociana

We couldn't get any help when we called reception because nobody answered. That was especially worrying while travelling with our two children, one just a year old, and both with allergies. The room also left us concerned about hygiene and the possibility of bedbugs. Although the photos looked beautiful, the room we got was dirty: the sheets had stains, hair, and crumbs, and didn't seem to have been changed. There was no soap either, and it hadn't been cleaned properly. Based on our stay, I can't recommend the property. Other travellers should know about these problems before booking.

A good place to stay in a nice area. The hotel was very nice, and the restaurant food was good. The common kitchen equipment could be better.

The room was clean and nice, and the price was surprisingly low. Finding staff was the hard part. The owner of a nearby restaurant told us to collect the keys from a cafe a kilometre down the road. The cafe staff were friendly, but couldn't answer most of our questions, including when or where breakfast, which we'd paid for, would be served. The next morning we couldn't find anyone again. We noticed a woman park and go in through the restaurant's back door, so we knocked and found out she worked there. She was lovely and made us breakfast. It was a simple spread, but we were satisfied and didn't feel anything was missing. When it was time to return the key, the cafe was closed despite the posted opening hours, so we went back to the hotel and left it in the room. It wasn't the worst stay, but the lack of instructions from staff, the website, or the room made things more inconvenient than they needed to be.

The room was clean and had good equipment, the bed was comfortable, and the towels were good quality. The people were great, and the dining room food was good too. A lovely place to stay in the foothills.
