Hotel Aldo

The pool was clean and pleasant, with loungers and other spots to sit, though the tiny room towels weren’t much use, so I used our own. On a hot summer evening I fancied a swim, but cleaning started and the pool was already closed at 8. The beds were good, and the bathroom was okay, though a hole in the floor had been covered with tape. In the room, one side of the bed had an electrical outlet, and extension cords hanging from the wall powered a TV and a fridge that didn’t work. I’d only expected an ordinary one night stay, so I wasn’t asking for much. Breakfast, though, really got to me. The espresso tasted more like tea, there were only a few slices of ham, and their edges were dry. The place has plenty of potential, but it falls short. The owner didn’t treat the staff kindly, which didn’t help the atmosphere. Still, the few staff members who served us were capable of being nice.

The place felt dirty and worn out, with cigarette smells in several areas and no air conditioning. The pool water wasn’t clean, and the renovation work inside looked amateurish. For what they charge, it feels like a real rip-off. There’s no wellness in summer, though that wasn’t advertised.

The rooms were nice, the service was great, and the beer was good.

I was only there briefly, but it’s a good hotel.
