I loved having breakfast ready each morning, and the host was a delightful man who clearly wants his guests to be happy. The apartment was spacious, very clean, and on the third floor, with lovely views. It was superb, though I hated climbing all those stairs. There's safe parking and internet too. A lovely old-world place to visit, and I highly recommend this little gem.

The apartments are more spacious than what we've experienced at other guesthouses, and the Victoria apartment is especially generous. It feels like stepping back in time, with the comfort of two bathrooms and a wonderful coffee maker. We call it our “princess accommodation.” The owner communicates well and is helpful. The manager is a joke. We keep coming back because this guesthouse is dear to our hearts. I know it won't suit everyone, since it's neither modern nor luxurious, but the charm and genius loci of the place are hard to resist. The First Republic villa still has an impressive atmosphere.

The old villa is beautiful, with great character and furnishings, though it hasn't had a full renovation. It's an interesting guesthouse, and a strange one too. Be ready for a way of doing things that feels like the nineties, and read the booking conditions carefully.
