Wellness Pension Iveta

We stayed four days as a family and were very happy with the place. The owner is welcoming, and everything felt clean, quiet, and homely. Our room was spacious, though it could use a few basics like a kettle and tableware. There’s a shared dining room downstairs with the equipment you need, plus coffee, tea, juice, and milk. Breakfast is available to buy, and we found it varied and delicious.

We only needed somewhere to sleep, and for that it was fine. The rooms were clean, the blankets very comfortable, access was convenient, and the owner was pleasant. But I wouldn’t choose it for a wellness break. The owner didn’t want to clean the jacuzzi, and the sauna was only big enough for one person. It’s an old house with a damp smell, and you can hear every movement from the other rooms throughout the building. Parking costs 100 CZK in the owner’s garden, which fits one car. Getting out means turning around about ten times, and only the owner can open the gate, so you have to keep bothering him. Fine for tourists staying a night, ridiculous as a “wellness stay.”

For guests who don’t expect much, it could be a place to unwind, but I can’t recommend it to cyclists. The owner is a real relaxer, though wellness means something else to me, and these days some basic standards are missing. The guesthouse seems a bit behind and at a crossroads.

Bad weather caught us on our motorbikes in Žacléř, so the day before we booked a room at Iveta Guesthouse through Booking. By morning the weather had cleared a little, and we immediately asked the owner if we could cancel. He said we’d booked through Booking and needed to sort it out with them, but that he’d be happy to cancel for us. We assumed he would confirm it if Booking called, since that was what we’d agreed. So we were really surprised when Booking said the reservation wasn’t accepted and we had to pay 75% of the price. If we hadn’t agreed with the owner, we’d have preferred to stay at the guesthouse. I thought this kind of behavior went out of fashion before the revolution. To me, someone who doesn’t keep his word is worth nothing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!
