The location still has a lot going for it: it’s a short walk from the train station and ski area, there’s private parking right by the road, and traffic noise wasn’t an issue. The rooms and shared areas are modern and pleasant, with a kitchenette in the double rooms that has a fridge and microwave. In winter there’s a large ski room with boot dryers. The price is very good for what you get, though this time some problems took away from that value. Last year our stay was nearly flawless, so we were looking forward to coming back. This year, payment was a hassle. The split option asks for half at booking and half on site, but the on-site balance could only be paid in cash and the exact amount. No card or QR payment was possible, so we had to go to an ATM a few kilometers away in Železná Ruda. That hadn’t been explained in advance, and we were told we couldn’t enter without the cash, even though the deposit had been paid and we’d just spent a hard day on the slopes. Last year a bank transfer during the stay had been fine. It’s hard to understand when you can pay cashless even for a hot dog on the slope. The room also didn’t feel properly clean. A socket wasn’t working, which was a minor issue, but looking under the bed at the cable there was unpleasant. There was dust and dirt, and hair from previous visitors on the bed frame. If it hadn’t been our final night, we’d have asked to change rooms. Heating was another difference from last year. In the other room this time there were only two small radiators. They weren’t working when we arrived and only started during the night. The advertised sensor on the heating rod wasn’t there, so we couldn’t use it to warm things up. Three stars feels about right this time, though last year I’d have given a full score without hesitation. There’s a lot to think about. Thanks to the very nice cleaning lady who helped us find the missing towels.
