Ibis Budget Aachen City

For the price, it's a very good deal, and the location is good, though the facilities are limited. The bed and sheets were very clean, but staff had missed a few long hairs in the bathroom. The reception staff, especially the lady, were warm and kind.

The location makes it easy to explore the area, but the rooms are very small and the beds aren't comfortable. The pillows are so thin they can leave you with neck pain after a night's sleep. Parking was also poor, and it was hard to find a convenient spot. The comfort and amenities need a lot of improvement.

The room was clean, the heater worked well, we had a hot shower, and the elevator worked pretty well. The staff, though, were stiff, unfriendly, and unhelpful. When we asked where we could leave our heavy luggage, he told us to come back at check-in time, 3 pm, and said they couldn't help. Even a suggestion, or a paid option, would have been fine. If you just need a sufficient room, this place works, but that's about it.

We arrived around 1 pm on Saturday, but nobody was at reception. The check-in machine had no option we could use, and there was no way to reach reception by phone. The number posted on the main door didn't work. A cleaning staff member spoke very little English, though she could speak Russian and German. When we returned after 5 pm, reception was open and the staff member was friendly. He explained he was there roughly from 6 to 11 am and again from 5 to 11 pm, with check-in from 3 to 5 pm via the machine. A few things to know: the screen has no check-in option before 3 pm, so early check-in isn't possible. Parking next door was unavailable, so we used the nearby garage at the bus station. The room was very basic, and there was no baby cot. Since we only stayed one night, that was fine.
