Hotel Platinium

If we ever come back to Aken, we’d stay here again. The rooms were very clean, the staff were kind, the price was great, and breakfast was yummy. There’s free WiFi and the hotel is close to the shopping centre. I’d heard people mention mold, but we didn’t find any. It was a little confusing to locate after dark, since it’s beside a road and hard to see at night. Aside from that, it was perfect, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel.

We chose this hotel because it was near Carolus thermal and had some positive reviews and a good ranking. We regret the choice and wish we’d stayed somewhere else. The breakfast wasn’t varied as described. It was very limited, with only eggs, bread, and a few prepacked items like jam and chocolate spread, and we were still hungry. The woman working at breakfast was the only kind staff member we encountered. Our room wasn’t cleaned well. There were hairs on the bed and yellow spots on the dirty blankets. The bed and huge pillows were so uncomfortable that we couldn’t sleep through the nights. There was no hairdryer in the room, which was a shock after showering, especially since we’d come for a thermal holiday. We couldn’t reach reception for help: nobody answered, the room phone didn’t work, and there was no one at the desk. We had no hairdryer until the evening of our last day, when the hotel owner lent us his personal one, which we returned. The window was covered with a sticker, so we couldn’t see outside. In winter especially, it felt depressing, like being in a prison. Reception was a ghost. We called many times before and after booking and nobody answered. The website where I booked clearly said checkout was until 12:00, but at 11:00 a thin male staff member with glasses came to our room and told us to leave. That was unacceptable and unprofessional. There were “Please clean my room” cards, and we put one on the door, but the room still wasn’t cleaned at all. When I raised this at checkout, the same staff member was rude and disrespectful. He insisted rooms aren’t cleaned every day and even said “no hotel does this,” which simply isn’t true. Telling a guest to “pay your money and leave” is completely inappropriate. He also said we should call the number on a small paper on the reception door, but it wasn’t the same number as on Google. He said, “you passed from this door you must see this number too” :)) We never saw that number, and it wasn’t on their website either. This really felt like a motel, not a hotel. So unprofessional. A very poor experience and a total disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel because of its lack of professionalism and basic respect for guests.

The room wasn’t worth the money, and the bed was uncomfortable. Breakfast was a disaster: after three days we were still hungry, with hardly anything to choose from and no tomatoes or cucumbers. They don’t clean the room until checkout. Reception supposedly closes at 4, but there was nobody there before that either, despite the 24/7 claim. There are no hairdryers. I won’t come back and can’t recommend it.

The room seemed fine at first, until the next-door guest flushed the toilet and started talking. The walls are so thin you hear everything. I didn’t want to lose sleep, so I booked another hotel right away. The desk wasn’t staffed around the clock, so I put the key back in the safe and left.
