The meal was the highlight, with regional, seasonal ingredients given creative twists on Bavarian dishes. The beef tartare with different celeriac preparations was spectacular, and the slow-cooked venison with dumplings and seasonal greens was just as good. There was only one wine by the glass, though it seemed very well matched to the food, and the prices felt very reasonable for the quality. We got a same-day table by email with very little notice. Even on a busy night with several large groups, the service stayed friendly and really attentive. The dining rooms are upstairs in the main section of the former Aldersbach monastery, with beautiful 18th-century Rococo ceiling paintings. If you're travelling through this part of Bavaria, the setting alone makes the Asam worth a detour. I'd be delighted to come back.

A lovely peaceful spot for a long weekend. It's a great base for hikes, or for doing absolutely nothing with a book all day. Fantastic.

We visited in the fall, and I'd happily come back. I had the 4-Course Menu, with lamb and butter mackerel, while my wife chose à la carte and enjoyed the seeteufel. The food was excellent, and the service was really friendly.

The food was nice, and the room was clean and tidy. We stayed two nights, and check-in and check-out were both quite easy.

The breakfast was tasty, and everyone was very friendly. The bier is always good too. A great place to stay.
