Gasthaus Rebstock

The hostess ruined our vacation for me. She smiled at me, then moved away and said rude things, apparently thinking I couldn’t understand her. If you want to feel unwelcome, choose this place. I chose it because of its normal Google rating, but after reading reviews on other sites I realized I wasn’t the only one. The room was very dirty, with hair on the bed and lots of dust. The food was all canned, the service was terrible, and we had to wait a long time. Worst weekend ever!!! I’d rather pay 10 euros more at another hotel and feel comfortable.

The town is small but lovely, and the view over it from the castle is beautiful. The guesthouse is well placed too: it’s two minutes on foot to the Moselle, or you can walk the other way towards the vineyards. There’s also an Edeka supermarket in town. We stayed at the Rebstock guesthouse and were satisfied. The house was very clean, our room was comfortable with a large bathroom, and the service was friendly. Breakfast was good and generous: rolls, cheeses and cold cuts, an egg, coffee, orange juice, and jam. They served it at the table, and brought more if you asked.

For this price, I felt well looked after, though you shouldn’t expect a four-star hotel. The owner handles almost everything herself and is genuinely friendly and welcoming. She can be a bit slow, which is understandable when she’s doing it all. But if you need breakfast on time for an 8 a.m. departure, this probably isn’t the place for you. The room was clean, with a TV and a hairdryer in the bathroom. The walls are thin, but I had earplugs and couldn’t hear the other guests. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, with extra rolls available if needed, and sandwiches hikers and pilgrims could make for the road. For the price, it was perfectly fine. I’d book again, but directly with them this time instead of through Booking.com.
