Ferienhof Lafrenz

Everyone was very nice, but we were let down by our short-notice choice of the attic apartment at the Lafrenz farm. It didn't work well for three people: the sofa wasn't comfortable for sitting together to watch TV, the kitchen was too small for cooking and had no toaster, the large bed squeaked with every movement, and there was no bathroom storage. The stairs were narrow and steep, unsuitable for small children. The farm visit was disappointing, too. There were a few pigs in a small stall, two rabbits in a very small hutch, sheep in a pasture, and a few free-range chickens, but no horses. The farm shop didn't look inviting, and the sandbox was poorly designed. We'd really looked forward to a farm holiday, so it was a shame. Katthusen farm was better equipped, but fully booked then. I didn't take any photos :-(

We'd happily come back to this lovely farm for a family break by the sea. Kids have lots of ways to play, and they can visit the animals anytime. The whole property and the holiday apartment were well equipped and very well cared for. ☺️

The owner was incredibly kind, and my daughter loved helping him feed the animals. She affectionately called him Grandpa because he was so nice. He's in his early nineties and still remarkably fit. There were no pony rides, though. (Replying to your question) That was such an important part of why we booked. They could have told us on the phone that it wasn't possible. We paid for the package and didn't get the very thing we came for. Otherwise, we wouldn't have booked. 🤷🤦

We booked five days at short notice because the website sounded and looked so promising, and left completely disappointed by the conditions and the landlady's rude manner. The place felt run-down and neglected. The sheep were in a meadow where they couldn't be petted, the horses promised on the website weren't there, and all the stables were empty. The farm shop was supposed to sell sausage and meat, but when we asked, we were told it wasn't worth offering anymore. Guests had complained about that two years ago, so I can't understand why nothing changed in all that time. There were no tractor rides for the children, and we didn't even see tractors on the farm. The fire pit area wasn't inviting for a cozy evening either. There were other things that bothered us, especially given the price for five days, which was simply exorbitant for what we got. When I tried to find a reasonable solution, the landlady said, “Then we must have different perceptions.” She talked about how much she had lost because of bad weather, but that's not my concern as a full-paying guest and has nothing to do with the problems. That response was beyond rude. This isn't a matter of perception: the horses advertised on the website were not there, the children couldn't go on tractor rides, and the farm shop didn't have the sausage or meat the website said it offered. The only solution she suggested was inviting us to the other farm, which had nothing to do with our booking. We booked at the Larenz farm and didn't get the promised program. I should have read the reviews first, and that's my mistake. I'd warn others to be careful because this is misleading. If you're planning to book, there are no horses, no tractor rides, and no sausage or meat in the shop. There are pigs to pet, but the rabbit hutches can't be opened.
