The next morning’s breakfast had a good spread, and room 114 was spacious and comfortable. We were glad to find somewhere to stay after our friend suddenly became ill and everyone decided to leave our WACKEN Open Air campsite a day early. Kiel was our next stop, but at the height of summer the more convenient hotels were full, so this place, out in the middle of nowhere, worked for the night. The receptionist was a very sweet, polite young woman. Husband thought she might be Dutch, and her kindness helped calm us after a stressful day. Thank you, my dear. Husband’s one complaint was the narrow underground parking. We had a pleasant stay and I’d recommend the hotel, but you need a car to get there. Public transport isn’t an option.

A hotel room should at least be clean, whether it’s dated or not. Ours really wasn’t. There were stains all over, including on the bed quilts, and one chair had what looked like a skid mark. The bathroom was awful too, and the whole room needed a thorough cleaning.

We had a very nice private sauna in our suite, and the pool downstairs was pleasantly warm. The rooms were large and comfortable, the staff friendly, and breakfast was good. For what we paid, it was excellent. We recommend it.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean, but they seemed short staffed and the place felt a bit down at heel. There weren’t any paper towels at first.
