We were there for two days during Octoberfest, and the location was handy for both the train station and Octoberfest grounds. The room was fine, though some details were odd: lamps with nowhere to plug them in, and a disconnected phone with no place to connect it. The hotel is on a busy street, so a street-facing room will be noisy.

The staff were always friendly and willing to help, but management gets zero stars. The location is amazing and the place has potential, yet the worn bed edges, poor lighting and almost characterless room felt below standard for more than 110 euros a night. For 70-80 euros, it might have been acceptable. My toilet flush barely worked, so I reported it at reception. The receptionist immediately called a technician, in a friendly but unsurprised way, as if she was used to this kind of damage. When I returned that evening, nothing had changed. Maybe the technicians are understaffed too. The bigger problem was what I saw at breakfast. Near the end of service, the room was nearly empty and the crew was severely understaffed. One person was clearly trying to do seven things at once, and there were dirty dishes on some tables. The manager walked through the room, went into the kitchen and shouted at the one staff member on duty, saying his employees all told him different things and collaboration was impossible. Then he left. It was a completely unnecessary show of force caused by understaffing. An employer should never talk to an employee like that. He was a man, the hotel manager and fluent in German, while she was not, a serious power imbalance. Later he came back, checked the breakfast room and calmly looked out the windows for a while. Then he showed the same employee pictures of a refurbished bench at his home, custom made for his place by his grandmother in 1973, and explained his renovation decisions. After disrespecting her, he also made his superior economic status clear. To de-escalate things, she acted very interested and encouraging about the bench's color. He apparently had time on his hands. Instead of shouting, staring out the window and giving a TED talk about his bench, why didn't he help with the dishes? At checkout I raised the issue. He denied everything and started interrupting me, but he clearly remembered the situation when he said, “you don't even know what the situation was about.” That confirms he knew something was off. His comment missed the point: the problem wasn't what they were discussing, it was how he spoke to her. He condescendingly said he'd think about it. I said I didn't believe him, and he confirmed that. I promised to write a review, and he asked to be named: Marcus Voggenreiter. So here we are. Curiously, he claimed the hotel was his, but the internet lists him as manager, not owner. This wasn't the only problem. The cost cutting hurts quality and gives management room for awful behavior, which he seems to embrace. The staff are nice, but the hotel clearly needs new management. His impulsiveness and anger issues showed with the employee and with me, and I'm sure elsewhere too. Therapy is the only answer. Good luck.

The staff have been helpful, and the location is fantastic, close to Munich train station and plenty of attractions. The rooms are typical for a European hotel.

I ask the international community, should a place like this even be allowed to call itself a “hotel”? Read through the reviews, because many of the 5/5 ratings are fake. There's no way they're true. A hotel should let you check in at any time, with staff on duty or at least someone answering the phone, like the hotel across the street. Go there instead. They have 24/7 check-in and iPads in the bed.
