Altstadthotel Schex

Lovely place ♥️♥️♥️

Breakfast was delicious and just right, and the hostess was so friendly. We felt at home, and everything was top-notch. Dogs are allowed, too. The place is right in the center, and checking in with a safe is handy if you don't know exactly when you'll arrive. We'd love to come back.

A plentiful breakfast and a very Bavarian feel, right in a perfect central location. The price for what you get is totally fair. The beer garden photos should be removed, though, since it isn't open anymore.

Our room was large and had a bay window, there was a spacious free parking lot, and Chapel Square was just a one-minute walk away. But I can't recommend this hotel at all, and the price for what you get is unacceptable. The breakfast room had cobwebs, the restroom off it had no light, and the room toilet was dirty. The elevator inspection had expired four years earlier. The carpets were stained, mattresses worn and soft, and the building smelled musty and of food. The rooms also had no blackout curtains or blinds, and the walls were so thin we could hear neighbors talking. Internet was extremely slow and overloaded. The reception was usually unmanned and reachable only by phone. Students were staying overnight and using the kitchen, making the hotel noisy like a dorm and leaving food smells throughout. In the mornings they were all over the breakfast room, talking loudly, playing loud music, and going in and out of the kitchen. No one asked whether we wanted a drink at breakfast, and sometimes nobody was there at all. The buffet was limited, the eggs were cold, and the sausage was warm. There was even a clothes drying rack in the kitchen. As a replacement or alternative, our double room had only a thin summer duvet and a different large pillow.
