The staff were really friendly, and I enjoyed both the good breakfast and a lovely dinner in the restaurant. The hotel itself is fairly large, with a spacious, clean room.

The staff tried to help, though the language barrier made things difficult. The room was clean enough, but it looked like it hadn't changed since the 1990s, was noisy, and barely had any electrical outlets. The shower had no curtain or door, and the room didn't match the online description. The location is very remote. Breakfast was basic, with no scrambled eggs, and didn't work for guests with food intolerances. Pretty much everything else could use improvement.

Breakfast was the worst part: there were no bread rolls, just stale onion baguette left over from the night before and cucumbers that were rotten and inedible. The room also looked like it hadn't been cleaned, with dirt all over the floor, someone else's hairs on the pillow, and a dead moth. The ceiling trim was damaged too. Paying €112 for a double room with breakfast was outrageous for what we got. A complete disaster.

The Waldschlösschen in Echthausen has gorgeous surroundings and a lovely mix of modern comfort and rustic charm. The warm service and welcoming atmosphere would suit a quiet evening for two or a festive family meal. It really is a gem, come see for yourself!
