FOUR Munich Neue Messe

The AC wasn’t very effective, but opening the windows at night brought in a cool breeze. We loved the spacious corner room and the delicious breakfast. Great stay!

The room had clearly been remodeled recently and was very large and comfortable. It was an upgrade, so I can’t say what the regular rooms are like. There were a few details that seemed unfinished, as some people have mentioned, but I didn’t mind. It had a microwave, mini fridge, stovetop, coffee maker, and motorized blinds. The staff were the real standout, from the front desk to the bar and breakfast team. Everyone was excellent, friendly, and ready to help with requests. Breakfast was great as well. It’s convenient for visiting one of the nearby companies, or taking a short bus or taxi ride to Messe Muenchen.

During Oktoberfest, the rate was 400 euros a night. I used 38,000 Marriott points instead of paying cash, but knowing that makes me even more disappointed. I booked expecting a good hotel, and this was the worst stay I’ve had at any Marriott. I stayed in September. Before arriving, I’d seen reviews mentioning construction and contacted Marriott customer support to ask whether the hotel would actually be comfortable. They assured me the hotel had said it would be. In reality, cardboard boxes for replacement TV monitors were scattered through the hallways. The room was missing basic things: there was no bottle opener, so I couldn’t open my water bottle, and the shower holder was broken and couldn’t be moved. There was shampoo but no conditioner, and somehow two body washes. Bulbs were missing from both the floor and table lamps, the TV couldn’t be used, and the air conditioning was weak and cold. I responded to the survey about my stay and was told some points would be refunded. The refund still hasn’t come through.

The hotel is outside the city center, but for the price it’s good value. I was there for business and had worried after reading the reviews, then was pleasantly surprised. It had been renovated nicely and still smelled fresh and new. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast had a good variety, and the room had everything I expected.
