The restaurant is downstairs from the hotel, though I’m not sure whether they’re run by the same business. The food was okay and inexpensive. I doubt the Schnitzel was homemade, but the side salad was good and the Pils was nice. The room was clean, but old and not very appealing. The carpets were worn, though the building is very old and could be a gem if they wanted to improve it. The bathroom was modern by standard, with a small walk-in shower. Staff were great at check-in and checkout. I left too early to try breakfast. It was a little hard to find even with SatNav, so I updated Google Maps to show the actual car park and entrance. Three stars, at a push.

We stopped at the restaurant for dinner on the Saturday before Easter while camping at the local Camp site just up the road. The small bar is nicely fitted out in an old German style, which felt welcoming, and service was friendly and efficient. The food was the best we’d had in Germany by far in recent months. The rump steak was excellent, portions were generous, and it was good value. Well worth a visit.

This old-fashioned hotel has plenty of character, with spacious rooms and free coffee in a little sitting room. It dates back to 1664, and the uneven floors make that pretty clear. It’s at the upper end of what I usually spend, but worth it.
