Taste Style Bären Auggen

The restaurant served enjoyable traditional German food. It wasn’t anything special, but the place itself was generally fine. The room was fine, too, though a big pile of dirty laundry on the stairs made a bad first impression. We waited a while to check in because no one was available when we arrived, and even the cleaning staff couldn’t get hold of anyone. Eventually somebody came. The hotel has potential, but service and attention to detail were lacking. Breakfast was acceptable, nothing memorable. There were three EV chargers, but none worked. Apparently that’s been a known problem for some time, and they shouldn’t be advertised if they aren’t fixed. The hotel is all right for a quick overnight stop, but I wouldn’t choose it for a longer stay.

We had a lovely stay for my birthday. Liam welcomed us at the front desk, and later gave us wine advice at the restaurant. It was busy there, but we were happy to take our time on the terrace in the warm evening. Our room was modern and spacious, with a terrace of its own. The downside was having neighbours who talked loudly and smoked until the early hours. A fridge and tea and coffee facilities in the room would have been nice. Still, with the friendly restaurant staff and free parking, the hotel was great value.

We found this hotel by chance while looking to break up our drive from Italy to Calais. The room was nice, the bed comfortable, and dogs are welcome. I’d stay again.

We’ve now stayed here four times and have been very happy each time. This visit was part of a Thermal/Spa package, and the stay was perfect. The staff were great, the room was nice, and the bathroom was well lit. Breakfast had a great spread, the WiFi was good, and parking was free. We also enjoyed dinner on the restaurant terrace. We’ll be back.
