Arthotel ANA Style

This was about as basic as it gets, and the “art” part felt like a scam. Two of the three rooms in our group had to be changed because of unacceptable noise and a very bad smell. They didn’t tell us that service only happens if you request it. When we asked for towels and toilet paper, we got foot bath mats and the cheapest, roughest paper, which didn’t even fit the holder. Wouldn’t recommend staying here.

This would probably make our top 10 hotels. The rooms were spacious and clean, the facilities were great, and there was a 24 hour coffee and tea station. The kids also got free ice cream. Patu and Cinthia were very helpful during our stay, and I’d like to commend them for the excellent service.

At 4pm, we arrived to find the hotel door locked and no one at reception. We’d booked directly on the website, paid, and received confirmation, but had never been sent a lockbox code. Customer service took about 10 minutes to reach, then another 10 minutes passed before the attendant arrived. She seemed irritated and didn’t greet us. She spent nearly 10 minutes on the phone, then took us upstairs and left us waiting outside a room for another 10 minutes while she continued talking in fast German, which we couldn’t follow. After hanging up, she said there were no rooms and asked us to leave. No apology for the confusion or the hour we’d spent waiting with our luggage. It was a horrible experience. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here.

The gym was actually usable, and the place was stylish, comfortable, and had a great breakfast. WiFi was a bit spotty, so it wasn’t quite perfect, but it was a great experience for me.
