Everything was within a five-minute walk, and my room was quiet even though the Christmas market and market square were right nearby. I parked in the underground garage beneath the square and got breakfast at a bakery in the city center. The room itself was spacious and clean, with a lovely view of the pedestrian zone. The owners were very friendly and accommodating, and there was a fantastic Asian/sushi restaurant right in the building. I was in Aurich for the Christmas market and had a wonderful time. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit. Highly recommended!

The room was modern and nicely furnished, and the bed was so comfortable that we nearly slept better than at home. Everything worked well, and the owner was very friendly. We found the entrance easily. It had been described again before we arrived, without us even needing to ask. The necessary information also came well in advance, so we had no trouble. You sleep in your room, not the entrance area, though even that was clean. The place is right in Aurich's pedestrian zone, so the location is about as central as it gets. If we return to Aurich as a couple, this will be our first choice. I don't understand the negative reviews.

We couldn't reach the hotel by phone, and the entrance was locked. By then, we just wanted to leave. Before that, we had walked past the "so-called" entrance at least three times because it looked more like... I won't even describe it. We eventually worked up the nerve to open the door, and what we found inside was indescribable. How can guests be expected to use an entrance like that? I tried to cancel through Booking.com, though I already suspected the owner wouldn't answer. The night before, my wife had read me a review mentioning rats in the entrance area and similar things. I wish I'd listened. Where are all the good reviews coming from? Maybe the owner has a big circle of acquaintances. We heard similar stories about the hotel's condition in shops nearby. Luckily, we found a very nice place close to the city center. I can only advise people against booking at Gate13.

The rooms are new and very clean, and this is a great base for a city trip. Breakfast isn't included, but there's a really tasty Asian restaurant downstairs. The side entrance can be confusing, so don't let that put you off. Highly recommended.
