Hotel Kranenturm

We picked this hotel because Rick Steves recommended it. My mother had stayed there three times before, but this was my first visit. It’s a nice little place in a beautiful historic building, and the location is great, though the train tracks are right outside. The room setup had recently changed, and the only option with four beds was very small, which was a problem for our party of four. The Wi-Fi was also broken. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice but spoke hardly any English. He was accommodating and put together a beautiful breakfast spread. I’m pretty sure our group of four were the only guests that night.

After hiking with our dog, we spent one night here. The owners were nice and helpful, and our street-facing room was clean and spacious, with a very comfortable bed. We could hear trains passing, but it didn’t bother us. Breakfast was really good and had lots of options. We’d definitely stay again.

A quaint place with good food and a great spot in Bacharach. It’s not extravagant, but it’s another solid hotel choice when visiting Europe. You can see castles on pretty much every hilltop, which feels simply magical.

The building and room were clean, and the bathroom and breakfast were fine, though neither felt warm. We stayed on March 9, 2024. Our room, #4, was on the tracks and river side, right beside a rail switching point. Freight trains passed just outside the window every few minutes, with a loud clank as their iron wheels went over a bump. From 10pm to 6am it was far too noisy to sleep. The passenger trains were quiet. I blame Deutsche Bahn for the condition of the freight trains, not the hotel. The room had only marginal heat, there was no bathroom heat, and the breakfast room was cold. The place is okay, but not fancy. There was no one at reception. We only saw one oriental man, who spoke neither German nor English. Next time I'd ask for a room on the Langgasse side.
