We stayed in the "Hans" apartment, which is just right for four people. There's another bedroom as well as a pull out couch in the living area. The bathroom is small but laid out well, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. A great little pension!

Bacharach is a wonderful old town, full of beautiful timbered buildings to discover. We were expecting a nice room at Hotel Dettmar, but ended up with a whole apartment, including a lounge and full kitchen. The owners welcomed us from the start and spoke very good English. It was clean, well equipped, and had a lovely balcony overlooking the old town street. You can park for free right outside from 6 pm to 10 am. After that, public parking next to the Rhine, outside the town wall, is only a 5 minute walk away. Thanks to the owners of Hotel Dettmar for a most pleasant stay.

Bacharach worked well as a base for exploring this part of Germany, and cycling down the River Rhine as far as you can go is a great opportunity. You can always take the train back to base. The self contained unit met our practical needs, and the host did their best to provide anything we needed.
