Waldhotel

In June, before the holiday season, the atmosphere was quiet. The room was clean and the service friendly.

We always feel comfortable there and are glad to return. We’ve celebrated several events at the hotel, and it’s been a real treat. The two weddings in our family were well looked after, from planning and catering on the day through to the cleanup afterward.

We went to the restaurant yesterday for the Christmas buffet. The food was generally tasty, and there was a good range of choices, which was a plus. The service was another matter. The staff seemed clearly overworked and there weren’t enough of them. We managed to order just one drink during the whole visit. Getting another order in was nearly impossible, and when drinks did arrive, they took at least 30 minutes and were often wrong. If there aren’t enough employees, they should limit the number of guests. The bill was confusing too, because there didn’t seem to be a proper point-of-sale system. Food and drinks weren’t recorded correctly, and the pile of paper slips was hard for both guests and staff to follow. We were charged for drinks we either hadn’t ordered or had ordered but never received. The price was also disappointing. When we booked by phone, we were told the buffet cost €45, but at payment we were charged €50 without any advance notice. We were told the chef had to adjust the price. That might have been justified by the selection, but the change should have been communicated beforehand or shown clearly on a board or menu. We couldn’t find any prices displayed anywhere on the premises. A very disappointing visit. The food was good, but the lack of organization, service, and transparency spoiled it.

The billing was a nightmare. Nothing was entered into a cash register system, so hello to the tax office. Unfortunately, the visit was disappointing overall. Prices felt too high for what we got, and the service seemed inattentive and uninspired. The food was okay, but nothing special, and didn’t make up for the issues with price and service. There’s definitely room for improvement. Regards
