Gästehaus Oswald

Breakfast had Palatinate specialties and all the other things you'd want. While we ate, the room was cleaned each day, which was a really nice touch. The host was very welcoming, and the house is well maintained in a prime location. It's an ideal starting point for exploring the Wine Route on foot or by bike.

We were there with our dog, and Mr. Oswald told us it had to be on a leash in the house and on the terrace, and wasn't allowed in the breakfast room. At that very moment, one of his poodles came out of the room off leash. We were also told we couldn't turn on the terrace light because it would shine on the ground and blind guests on the first floor. The breakfast runs only from 8:30 to 9:30. If you're not at the table by 9:10, Mr. Oswald loudly reminds you of the hours, shouting through the house or across the yard. He limits the eggs to one per person and talks at length about his life, whether you want to listen or not, so a peaceful breakfast isn't possible. Our room, No. 1, badly needs renovation. There's mold around the shower tray, and the floor gets dangerously slippery when wet. This guesthouse and Mr. Oswald are quite an experience. Honestly, never again.

The location was ideal for our hiking weekend, and our group of six thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Gästehaus Oswald. The rooms were clean and spacious. Mr. Oswald was welcoming and glad to suggest excursions and current events. His lovingly prepared breakfast each morning deserves a special mention. There were fresh rolls, scrambled eggs, fruit, and homemade dips, so we had everything we needed. We'd be happy to come back!

Even though the house is right in the town center, it was peaceful both inside and around the property. The terrace was cozy and inviting, and there was parking and secure bike storage. Breakfast was excellent, and the place was spotlessly clean, just what we look for. We were welcomed warmly and felt right at home. We'd definitely book here again if we visit the Palatinate.
