The owner said she wouldn't rent us the apartment because we were too heavy for her. We'd gone to see the holiday apartment at the Miramar after someone recommended it, hoping to book it for two nights and attend two concerts in Bad Elster. Our original apartment had become unusable for reasons we still don't know. I stay away for work almost every week and have never had anything like this happen. Outrageous!

The hostess does try, but Miramar Castle feels dated. The breakfast room is small enough that guests might not find a seat when the hotel is full, and the breakfast itself is simple. Some furniture could use an update, and the carpet could do with freshening up.

We had a lovely view of the gondola pond from this quiet spot. The beds were comfortable, and parking on site was convenient. The Albert-Bad and theater are both within walking distance, and the staff were friendly.

The center is about a three-minute walk away, and the thermal baths and other places are easy to reach on foot. Our apartment was spacious, well furnished, clean, and tidy. Staff were friendly, capable, and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.

The local amenities and parking spaces don't feel up to modern standards. People coming mainly to relax may not be as demanding about that.
