Stadthotel Bad Fallingbostel

The bathrooms had fungus, there were long hairs from a previous guest on the toilet seat, and the carpet was stained. The rooms weren't great, and the staff were rude. On our arrival day, the owner told us two of our rooms wouldn't be available. He had approved a late check-in between 22:00-23:00, and we asked for a number to call if traffic jams made us later. At first he used that question as a reason not to offer us the rooms, then said there were technical reasons. He asked us to cancel the booking ourselves. We refused because there were hardly any nearby places with four rooms still available, and cancelling would have cost us our travel agency's support. We had to contact the agency to get a proper solution. With their intervention, the owner arranged rooms at another nearby hotel for the first night, and we could all stay together at this hotel on the second night. When we arrived for that night, we told him we were disappointed about having to move hotels and only hearing about it on the day we arrived. He had no hospitality or friendliness to offer. In front of other guests, he shouted, “What more do you expect of me, you can leave now, there is the door.” It was embarrassing. If I hadn't been there with my family, I would have left. If I'd been the hotel manager, I would have offered us a drink or at least apologized for the trouble. We'd remember the place very differently if that had happened.
