In Piazza

A lovely place to stop during a drive. The Italian food was tasty, the room clean and comfortable, and parking felt safe. I'm enjoying my stay.

The food is good, especially the pasta, and the regular servers are kind. But the owner's behavior has made us stop coming to In Piazza. I regularly visit Bad Klosterlausnitz for treatment at the wonderful Moritz Klinik, and used to eat here with friends. The owner has been impolite and presumptuous to us and other customers on nearly every visit. On our last visit, one friend became ill just before dinner, so seven of us arrived instead of the nine on the reservation. The owner scolded us for not calling to say we were fewer, saying, "yeah, well THANK YOU, that's not how you do things! You CALL and let me know!" She kept going as she seated us and made it sound like she was doing us a favor by giving us our reserved table. That table wasn't even big enough for seven, much less nine. There were only seven of us and an elderly couple in the restaurant, and it stayed empty for the full two hours we were there. Still, she kept badgering and making sarcastic remarks to my friends. We stayed because we were hungry, everything else in this small resort was closed, and changing locations can be difficult or painful for those of us with physical disabilities. We had tipped generously on past visits and never had trouble with the other, kind servers. The owner, though, has repeatedly been arrogant and unwelcoming to us or other customers. The food isn't good enough to make that treatment worth putting up with. If you go for the pizza or pasta, ask for a server other than the owner. She's tall and well-built, with long black hair.

It's close to the Autobahn, and the room was spacious, very nice, and tidy. Breakfast was superb, and the biergarten is a great spot for a drink or a meal.

The staff were very friendly, and the hotel was nice and quiet. There are lots of Italian dishes on the restaurant menu, and the food we tried was well prepared and really tasty.
