I'm staying at Hotel Ammergauer Zeitgeist now and am really thrilled by it. The wellness area stood out, with a pool, sauna, and lovely treatments such as massages and baths. The rooms are lovely and clean, with sunny south-facing balconies. The food is delicious, from the great breakfast buffet to the varied evening menu. All the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. A wonderful break for caregivers!

The two friendly, personable waitresses deserve five stars from me, as does the excellent chef, who seemed to be alone in the kitchen every time I saw him. They made the best cocktails until midnight. The service from these three was impressive, but the state of my room was the reason for my one-star rating. I found the lack of cleanliness and hygiene awful. I woke up with two long black hairs on my face, and they couldn't have been mine because I'm bald. The TV didn't work, and the remote was completely filthy and sticky around the buttons. At about 4:30 in the morning, my next-door neighbor woke me by vomiting and spitting, which I could hear through the thin walls. The toilet lid slamming also added to a ruined night. The price for this kind of accommodation is a complete disgrace and not justified at all. At the bar in the evening, the hotel manager complained to his staff about the double doors on his sports car and the garage being too low, and bragged about it. Meanwhile, the two waiters served drinks until midnight, then were still on duty at breakfast at 7:00 a.m. At my breakfast time, 10:00 a.m., they were still preparing and replenishing the buffet, baking more pastries, making coffee, setting tables, and loading and unloading the dishwasher. Seeing that as a guest made me uncomfortable and embarrassed on their behalf. I found the manager unpleasant. Without those three employees, he'd have closed the place long ago. They're the ones who keep the hotel running, and you can really notice that as a guest.

The location is ideal for exploring the area, and the place is beautifully furnished and cozy. If you get the right room, the view is superb too. Breakfast was delicious, in a typical Bavarian style, and there’s a very nice spa area. I didn’t try the spa, but it looks great. What a hotel, fantastic. Full marks!

The evening meal was a very tasty four-course menu, and the garden is a lovely little spot where you feel comfortable straight away. We can recommend the hotel. Our small double room was quite enough for us. There were a few cobwebs here and there, but otherwise it was clean. The staff in every area were very friendly, helpful, and clearly made an effort. Breakfast was plentiful, especially the exceptionally tasty milky coffee. The spa area is very large, and the pool water felt comfortable. The temperature display even showed almost 30°C.
