A nice place, and good value for the money.

I felt very comfortable in the apartment last year. It was practical and well furnished, and the landlords were friendly and helpful. The central location was ideal but still quiet, with the bus, station, shops, paths to the spa area, and other places all easy to reach on foot.

The bed was comfortable and the apartment was quite clean, with very steady Wi-Fi and a lovely little balcony. The price was reasonable, too. But the place felt worn and sparsely furnished. The bathroom window wouldn’t open properly, was held in place precariously, and stayed a little ajar. There was barely any toilet paper, and the kitchen was extremely basic. The TV had no remote and was set to Romanian. We eventually found German channels after a lot of fiddling, but there were no instructions, and reception was so poor we gave up. The other residents seemed a bit shady, and our bikes were stolen from the cozy garden behind the house, so it seemed likely someone in the building had taken them. The landlady seemed quite ill when we handed over the keys, which may explain the state of the apartment.

The little coffee spot by the window was a nice place to sit in the morning, looking toward the start of the pedestrian zone. Restaurants, bars, and pubs are around a 5-10 minute walk away, and shopping is easy. The kitchen has what you need for cooking and washing up, and towels are provided. The bathroom has a shower and sink, so keeping clean was no problem. There’s a TV with a receiver, though I don’t mind that since there’s plenty to watch, such as the park at the Parkhotel, or you can just wander around town. The hallway can be noisy, but it didn’t bother me. The neighbors were usually so quiet you could hardly tell they were there, with the occasional bit of ordinary building noise. Key handover was very straightforward. I felt comfortable and would gladly stay again, maybe I’ll return.
