Hotel Jagdhof Glashütte

I like the restaurant, and the other Arab staff were nice. But I couldn't stand Christian Diehl. He has worked there for years, and when I visited for the jazz festival about two months ago, I felt he treated people differently depending on tips. Tip him and he's friendly; don't, and he gets right up close to the food. He was the complete opposite of nice.

The staff made the stay, they were wonderful and very focused on service. We had high quality breakfasts and dinners, too. The hotel is in a beautiful area, and the sensible measures it had in place because of the Corona virus didn't affect our stay at all. We had a very pleasant time at this fantastic hotel.

We had a great weekend here to relax. The food was a real highlight, with plenty of good choices, including local dishes as well as oysters and seafood. We ate dinner in the restaurant twice and enjoyed breakfast too. Service was friendly and prompt, and our room and bed were clean and decent. The pool and sauna have been updated; they weren't too busy when we were there. There are several hiking trails around the hotel, so we didn't need to take the car out. The setting is very remote, though. We drove an e-car, and there aren't decent charging stations for several miles. The hotel let us use a basic power outlet, which worked fine for charging overnight. The Jagdhof Glashütte feels like a fascinating trip back in time, with a few odd touches. The room had a CD and cassette player, and the TV was connected to a DVD player. WiFi was stable and worked well, but the TV had only 21 channels, with just one English-language option, BBC, and I don't want news on vacation. It would be nice to stream from a phone, and a kettle for morning tea would be welcome. There was a coffee maker with one regular mug and an espresso cup, a strange setup for a two-bedroom room meant for two. We brought our dog, who had a comfy blanket and could go everywhere on the premises. We brought his bowls and supplies ourselves. The bed and room were fine and clean. The big fireplace to the left of reception catches your eye, and they serve afternoon tea, coffee, and treats there. Great place to kick back for a weekend.

The food was superb, and breakfast had just about everything you could want. Service was excellent too. Set in the forest and surrounded by nature, this is a wonderful hotel. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed, plus a free minibar. Definitely worth a visit and those five stars.
