Steepleview House

Melanie was already a huge help before we arrived. We connected in a Travel Germany FB group, and she turned my ideas for our first trip to Germany into a fantastic itinerary. She spent hours answering questions, and I can't imagine the trip going nearly as well without her knowledge. When we got there, she helped us sort out a train change that had happened while we were flying, get our rental car and groceries, and plan a travel loop for each day. We had so much fun with everything we did. The small apartment was just right for the two of us. Each morning I enjoyed coffee on the balcony, listening to birds and church bells and taking in the peaceful Black Forest village. Steepleview House is lovely, and I can't recommend it enough. The family and the place are a real blessing.

Our family of four had a great time in the apartment, and the hosts welcomed us warmly with useful tips about the region. Everything had been carefully prepared, and all the information we needed was sent before our stay. The only downside was having to go home when vacation ended 😅. I definitely recommend Steepleview House and its hosts.

What made our week feel so personal was the way Melanie and Achim looked after us. They got to know us, added thoughtful touches, and still gave us plenty of time to ourselves. They helped with local recommendations, hikes, and interpreting the language, and made it easy to find our way around whether we were new to Germany or Europe. The setting is lovely, with a stream, a view over a small German town, and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Melanie is from the US, while Achim was born and raised in Germany, so together they were a great resource. The week felt custom-planned and was still very affordable. We had a perfect stay and can't wait to come back.

They went above and beyond to make our stay easy. They helped us rent a car, picked us up at the train station, and arranged the breakfast items we'd asked for, which were delicious. Their suggestions for activities and directions by car and train were also really useful. Such wonderful hosts, and the location was handy for Strasbourg, the Alsace Region, and Baden Baden.
