A comfortable and really enjoyable two-night stay. It was just right as a base for hiking in the mountains, and the good German and continental breakfast set us up for the day. Five stars.

I’d recommend this place, but be ready for a walk if you’re heading into the Harz Mountains. The forest road leading up from Bad Sachsa is very steep.

The atmosphere was friendly and family-like, and the beds were really good, firm rather than those usual flimsy hotel mattresses. Breakfast was delicious, though it wasn’t as extensive as you might expect from a big hotel. That was fine for me. I didn’t use the TV or Wi-Fi, so I can’t say anything about them. I’d definitely stay again if I’m in the area.
